Ballet Birthday Parties
with Miss Christina

What better way for an aspiring ballerina to spend her birthday than through a magical journey of dance and imagination?  Miss Christina can take your ballerina princess and her friends (young gentlemen, princes, and cavaliers welcome!) through the enchanting world of ballet in celebration of her birthday.

First Miss Christina will display her very own pointe shoes and allow the ballerina birthday girl and her guests to touch and feel them, helping them to appreciate their unique qualities.  Next, she will captivate their attention with beautiful photos of ballerinas wearing these special shoes as well as the ballerina's quintessential headpiece: a sparkling tiara.  Miss Christina will then bestow upon the birthday ballerina her very own tiara which she may keep as a treasured memento of her party.

Once the honored tiara has been donned, it is time for the birthday girl and guests to begin their own ballet adventure!  Miss Christina will lead the dancers through an age-appropriate ballet lesson.  Younger dancers will enjoy imaginative creative movement exercises which will help them to grow tall like blossoming roses, stretch out like limber kittens, and dart through the air like dainty butterflies.  Older children will be thrilled at pre-ballet exercises like the Tango Passe and Mexican Hat Dance.

Dancers of all ages will be excited to move briskly around the room as they march, gallop, and leap.  Then everyone will have a chance to dance freely to inspiring ballet music, calling upon steps they may have just learned!  Miss Christina will help older dancers create their very own mini ballet suite which they'll love to perform for attending parents.

Finally, the dancers will offer a thank you in traditional ballet style, performing a reverence as they bow to their teacher, and most importantly, to their ballerina host!  As they skip home, the dancers' hearts will be full of the joy and beauty that inspires every ballerina.

Each party includes the following:

  • Special tiara for the birthday girl.
  • Hands-on display of pointe shoes & ballet costumes.
  • Presentation of photographs of ballerinas.
  • Semi-structured "real" ballet lesson:
  • Barre exercises.
  • Creative movements in the center of the room including port de bras (beautiful arm exercises), jumps, turns, bourree runs, and other allegro ballet movements.
  • Locomotive exercises including leaps, skips, gallops, and marching moving around the room in circles and along diagonal lines.
  • Reaching and stretching imaginative exercises on the floor.
  • Freestyle dances where children can improvise and demonstrate their individual talents. These can be done all together or as solos while other participants watch and applaud! Allows children opportunity to demonstrate their own talents and understand what performing in front of an audience is like.
  • Basic introduction to many ballet terms.
  • Emphasis on the magic and beauty of ballet as well as the fun and enjoyment of dance and creative movement.
  • Children are able to participate in the "lesson" no matter what their dance background may be, with plenty of interaction with the ballerina teacher. Children will also be able to act as spectators by watching the teacher and their friends dance.
  • Boys are always welcome to participate and will soon realize their unique and special role as cavalier or prince!

Also available upon request:
Miss Christina can provide complete party packages including tutus & sequin tiaras for the party guests and a ballet-themed craft (such as decorating magic wands).  For example, dancers can decorate glittery star wands at the beginning of the party, allow the wands to dry while they warm up with the dancing lesson, and then use their wands in freestyle dances to conclude the party!
